HBO Saturday at 7 or 8. 10 part miniseries. It should be very good.

David, they are gonna base it on Robert Leckie(Helmet for My Pillow), Eugene Sledge and John Basilone.

Don't have HBO, but I can tell you that if it is anything like Band of Brothers, that will be added to my collection the second it hits DVD.

A friend of mine that I deer hunt with has the entire band of brothers dvd set, and during our annual two week hunt this year he brought them to the lease and when we weren't in the stand we were in the house watching them. I got WAY HOOKED, and have been waiting on this one to air. You bet I'll be watching!!!!!!

I have HBO only because it is free for 3 months. I might actually pay to have it if they would get rid of Bill Maher.

That looks like a good series. Wonder if you can get it on Video on demand? I might have to wait until it hits DVD.

I am looking forward to it but dropped HBO to save $. I will also figure out some way to catch it on demand or buy DVD's when available. It should be awesome! I hope it as good as Band of Brothers. I still watch it whenever it is showing. Hard to pass up something so compelling. Those guys are real hero's and to see all they went through is simply amazing.

i think its from the same producers (Tom Hanks and Steven Speilberg) as Band of Brothers. They have been showing Band of Brothers leading up to this weekends premiere of The Pacific. I got caught up in BOB and cannot wait for The Pacific

I never saw much of B.O.B but just checked out The pacific and its really got my attention, definately glad ya'll let me know about this one. Can't wait till next sunday!

I wish the premier was 2 hours instead of 1. Also, if you dont know much about history or never read Robert Leckie's book(which is most of what the first episode is based on) you would be lost.

3 Marines. Sledge and Leckie wrote books on their experiances. John Basilone didnt get a chance to write one. Basilone won the Medal of Honor on Guadacanal and the Navy Cross on Iwo Jima where he was KIA on the first day.

Basilone is iconic in the Marine Corps. Streets on the bases are named after him... that kinda stuff. Heck of an American!

I think they have bitten off more than they can chew with this one. It would be very hard to follow if you didnt know any history and the begining of last nights episode was very inaccurate historically.

I have been DVRing it and I love it. I am not as up to snuff on the Pacific Theatre as much as the European but I am learning and I am loving this miniseries.

I've watched the first two episodes and they are very suspenseful and action packed. Like I said I never caught much of Band of Brothers but I will have to catch up. And I think that they are doing a great job of telling the story of guadalcanal and Srgt. John Basilone and his heroic acts. That guy seem to be a true american hero. And its said to see what has happened to this country now after he and thousands of others fought so hard.
