Some of you have seen that 2 deputies were killed in Dayton this AM...
This is all taking place two doors down from my in-laws' house.
 It is apparently a high powered rifle that is being used against law enforcement, so they are bunkered up in interior rooms and unable to leave. The situation is still ongoing, with law enforcement and SWAT everywhere.My MIL and my 17 year old sister in law are there in the house. Step FIL somehow is at work, don't know if he stayed over last night or what.
As you can imagine, two women alone in the house, unable to leave, hearing gunshots, knowing two deputies are dead... not a good situation.

No one knows what is going on. The owners of the plot had recently let some friends put a trailer on the land temporarily. Don't know if it's an owner or a friend. There's also a prison about a mile down the road. Only thing anyone knows is that it's a rifle being used so everyone has to bunker in.

Channel 13 new says they were shot while responding to a call about shots fired at that location. They were both shot but are in stable condition at Ben Taub. New report showed them being wheeled into the hospital. Sub-division is on lock-down and school busses not running in there.

Apparently, the owner of the place was on meds to keep him sane. He stopped taking the meds. He's now splayed out in the front yard.
The deputies are supposed to have non-fatal wounds.
My step FIL won't be able to come home today until very late and they can't leave. No fun, but atleast the danger is over. Edited by capn - 09 March 2010 at 4:40pm |

according to channel 13's website. The shooter is dead, two deputies were shot one is in stable condition and the other has been released from the hospital already. Weird goings on in Dayton!!! I'll have to call my dad and make sure he is ok. I'm not sure exactly where it happened but they mentioned Woodland Hills subdivision and that is where the old coot lives

Prayers for the shooter too. I know that might get a bashing from some, but if this guy was truly a mental patient on meds and there was some unpreventable reason he was off them, that's a bad, bad situation and I have a degree of sorrow for him. Any of you who have ever been around someone who even mildly needs meds like that and run out will know that what I say is true.

Wow, just got off of the phone with my dad . I called him to make sure they were ok because that is the neighborhood they live in. I had no idea where this was going down at and it turns out, from what i understand from the old man, it happened at the house behind and just one house to the west of him. I told him, of course, that I am glad he is ok. he in turn told me "no worries, youngster, I've been walkin around all morning with a 12ga in one hand and the old Desert Eagle .50 cal in the other....I'm good" |
